Succeeding by an overwhelmingly 281-137 margin, the Hahn/Huizenga Amendment was added to the Energy and Water Appropriations bill on July 9, 2014. A K&L Gates team, led by Jim Sartucci, advocated for the maritime industry, provided technical advice to Congressional staff, and helped engineer the House floor vote. The amendment increased U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintenance dredging funding to match the spending target established in the recently enacted Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2014.

Jim is a government affairs counselor with over 13 years of practical experience on Capitol Hill working inside the legislative process on maritime, Coast Guard, homeland security, transportation, oceans, fisheries and science programs and policy issues.

K&L Gates’ bipartisan public policy and law practice is made up of over 50 lawyers and policy professionals and ranks among the five largest law and lobbying firms in the United States, according to National Law Journal's Influence 50 (September 2013).
