Montrose Port Authority, a leading support and service hub for the energy industry, has broadened its services to the north east energy industry by announcing its latest tenant, behavioral safety and culture change specialists, Ethos Empowerment.

Ethos has invested six figures in a new facility at the Port to deliver interactive emergency response training sessions. In addition, the company has launched its latest oil and gas process simulator which is used for both emergency response and control room operator coaching.

The unique simulator has been designed to play a fundamental role in offshore emergency response training. Aimed at increasing safety for personnel involved in demanding offshore operations, Ethos’ technology will position individuals on a realistic offshore platform and put them through various, realistic emergency situations.

The partnership will enable Montrose Port Authority and Ethos to broaden the scope of safety training that can be delivered throughout the north east, and beyond.

Nik Scott-Gray, chief executive at Montrose Port Authority, said: “In high hazard environments, such as those simulated by Ethos’ technology, safety is always the highest priority. Ethos’ services go beyond basic standard training; the team is focused on developing individuals’ current knowledge, fostering a directive form of leadership, which is imperative in any emergency situation. We’re delighted to welcome them to the Port.”

Tom Keane, director at Ethos, said: “Montrose Port Authority provides services unlike any other and it is a privilege to have launched - and base - our world-class simulator here.

“Our experience has shown that many companies struggle with the issue of maintaining competent emergency response personnel, resulting in the repeated use of ineffective training courses in an attempt to prove competency. We believe there is an opportunity for organizations to invest in an Emergency Response Coaching and Competency plan that tailors training to the needs of the organization, and the individual. It is this service that we aim to provide with our fully adaptable simulator and training center.

“Our coaches will build on what each individual already knows, expanding skills and inspiring delegates to think about the solutions for themselves. Fundamentally, creating a safer environment for everyone.”
