Published Feb 12, 2017 1:24 AM by The Maritime Executive

A record has been set for the launch of an ice-strengthened vessel behind the dikes of The Netherlands at the Royal Niestern Sander shipyard.

The ice-strengthened EasyMax multipurpose vessel was commissioned by Wagenborg and affiliated partners and has a cargo capacity of over 14,000 tons. She is 149 meters in length and 15.9 meters in width - the largest vessel ever built at a yard situated on the landside of the dikes in the North of the Netherlands.

The vessel will be delivered by the yard in April 2017.

Royal Niestern Sander is located in the Northern part of the Netherlands with a direct connection to the North Sea via the port of Delfzijl.
