The maritime security leader AdvanFort Company is pleased to announce the choice of Dimitrios Angelopoulos, a retired Hellenic Navy submarine commander, as its new business development manager.

Bringing Dimitrios Angelopoulos onboard during this critical time of vigorous expansion for AdvanFort means the company is now poised for significant growth in its infrastructure around the world, said AdvanFort President William H. Watson. Dimitrios is a highly-qualified manager with recognized leadership skills and proven success in Naval Operations and Shipbuilding.

To quote the philosopher Aristotle, for AdvanFort, "Well begun is half done."

The appointment comes just weeks after a fellow Greek navy commander, Nicholas-Andrew Iliopoulos, a master mariner who for nearly a decade served as the personal liaison of HM the late King Hussein Bin Talal of Jordan to the seafaring community, was chosen as AdvanFort's business development director.

Before coming to AdvanFort, Mr. Angelopoulos worked for Hellenic Shipyards S.A. as the project manager for the 214-type submarine contract with the Hellenic Navy. A Hellenic Naval Academy graduate, he has an Executive MBA degree from the University of Piraeus and an MBA degree from the University of Louisville.

As a career submarine officer, Mr. Angelopoulos served for 15 years in the submarine fleet, including command of two submarines and as chief of submarine operations. Besides his experience in naval operations and training, he brings significant expertise in risk and performance management in the shipping industry.

Mr. Angelopoulos' initial focus will be on maritime security opportunities in Italy, Greece, Germany and Spain.
