Wallem Supports Polish Tall Ship’s Call to Hong Kong

Wallem Ship Agency was appointed to handle the recent call of the full-rigged Polish tall ship, the S.V. Dar Mlodziezy to Hong Kong.

The tall ship arrived in Hong Kong on October 26, 2018 and was berthed at China Merchants Wharf until October 29. This stop in Hong Kong marked an official one on the ship’s round the world journey which will see it visit 21 ports in 18 countries.

Managing Director for Wallem Ship Agency Dickson Chin said, “We were delighted to support the call of this great tall ship to Hong Kong and to help find the most cost effective dockage. The call went very smoothly and the Wallem team was happy to help coordinate the procurement and delivery of various spares and supplies.”

The Dar Mlodziezy, a school sail training ship, was launched in 1981 at Gdansk shipyard in Poland. The ship is manned by a crew of 32, plus an additional 135 cadets, and is owned by the Gdynia Maritime University. Dar Mlodziezy means “the gift of youth” and was the first Polish-built, ocean-going sailing vessel to circumnavigate the globe (1987–88).
