Teekay Chooses ChartCo to Manage Switch to Digital Navigation

Following a competitive worldwide tender Teekay Shipping has chosen ChartCo to supply digital and paper charts and publications, flag state documentation and on-board navigational management software to their global fleet of more than 100 in-house managed vessels.

Commenting on the tender award, Deborah Sloan, Contracts Specialist at Teekay Shipping in Glasgow said: ‘We realized that as we implement navigation with ECDIS across our fleets we need a partner who is an expert in digital navigation and having looked at all suppliers with the range of services and geographical reach to fulfil our requirements we are delighted to have identified ChartCo as providing the best overall solution.’

A key part of the tender was a full review of the various options available for the purchasing of Electronic Navigational Charts including Pay As You Sail, fixed price, pre-paid and standard licensing and after due consideration Teekay has opted to stick to the tried and tested standard licensing in combination with ChartCo’s Auto-Permit automated purchasing system.
