The Marcura Group, a Dubai-based group of companies focused on providing innovative business solutions to the maritime industry, announced the opening of Marcura Singapore Pte Ltd., its representative office in Singapore.

Singapore-based shipping and trading companies have become an increasingly larger part of the Group’s customer base and the opening of a regional office is part of the Group’s strategy to continue to place service functions closer to its customers.

Heading up the new office and the initiatives in the region is Capt. Errol Gonsalves, who comes from a role as Managing Director for one of the Group’s business units, CP-Desk.

As Founder & Group CEO, Jens Lorens Poulsen explains: “Setting up an office in Singapore is of significant importance to the Group. It was clear from the start that we wanted one of our most senior people to represent us. Capt. Gonsalves has been with the Group for almost 14 years and was with the Group’s flagship company, DA-Desk, from the early days. Capt. Gonsalves knows each of our businesses in depth and importantly, he is a strong believer and messenger of the values we stand for. We are incredibly thankful that he accepted to move to Singapore to represent us.”

As Capt. Gonsalves further explains: “Singapore has a vibrant maritime ecosystem and is the ideal Asian gateway for global leaders in Shipping.

More than 130 of the world’s top shipping groups provide a vast diversity of maritime products and services from here.

“As a Group, we are focused on bringing incremental efficiencies and standardization where possible to the shipping industry’s tramp sector and we need to be close to our customer base to support them during these change processes. I am looking forward to engage with the community here”.

The Group currently has offices in Dubai, Mumbai, London, Tokyo, Copenhagen and representatives in Switzerland, Hamburg, Greece, Hong Kong, Canada and Florida. The office in Singapore will function as a point-of-contact for regional Group customers and industry partners.
