SpecTec and Corena Announce Breakthrough in Shipdex Orders

The three companies CORENA, SpecTec Group and Intership Navigation are proud to announce the first purchase of the AMOS Shipdex sup¬plied by SpecTec Group and powered by Corena.

The AMOS Shipdex Suiteis the first system on the market for the pro¬duction, management, use and validation of technical information developed in accordance with the Shipdex Protocol. It is an integrated suite of software tools giving ship owners and operators the benefits of major cost savings in terms of better data quality and improved electronic use.

The Shipdex Protocol contains a set of business rules, especially designed for the shipping community, specifying how this industry shall implement the well-known S1000D specification for the production and management of technical publications. The S1000D specification is widely used in the Defense and Civil Aviation communities.

Intership has earlier announced their Shipdex direction for future acquisitions based on projected cost savings and the aim to have technical documentation readily available for online browsing and searching, both in the office and on board the vessels. “SpecTec and Corena are the natural vendors of choice because of their tight collaboration and their demonstrated commitment to Shipdex”, says Mr. Pawel Bury, Head of IT Department at Intership.

“SpecTec has more than 50% of the world’s shipping fleet already using AMOS. We wanted to expand our solutions offering to our customers and to reduce their operation costs related to AMOS database creation and technical publication management. Having evaluated several S1000D vendors we found CORENA the most flexible and committed vendor for the AMOS Shipdex Suite. This first order is an important breakthrough in the Shipdex community and we have identified several new ones to come”, says Marco Vatteroni, SpecTec ILS manager.

“This order shows the suitability of the S1000D specification in yet a new market with long product life cycles and continuous information updates. Inter¬ship is a major driver in the Shipdex community, and we are extremely happy to welcome this important ship operator as a new CORENA customer”, says Toralf Johannessen, president and CEO at CORENA.
