NAMEPA, DCMC and WCS have announced their plan to hold a joint seminar to discuss the topic of “Preserving New York’s Marine Heritage” on March 6th, 2014 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Reed Smith offices located at 599 Lexington Avenue, 22nd Floor New York, NY, 10022.  In addition to current critical issues surrounding the environment, the collaboration will ignite conversation amongst industry experts on topics such as New York as a commercial maritime center, recreational activities in New York and conservation in the ports of New York.

“We are excited at the prospect of bringing different users of the port together to recognize its significance, and also how we can synchronize our goals to make sure that it gets the attention it deserves!”, stated NAMEPA’s Executive Director, Carleen Lyden-Kluss.  "The goal of the event is to focus attention on the importance of the many uses of the Port of New York/New Jersey and explore pathways of communication to fully utilize, yet conserve, the Port.”

NAMEPA, DCMC and WCS have confirmed speakers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Manhattan Sailing, North Cove, WCS, New York Water Taxi and Mayor Bill Deblasio’s office.
