South Korean shipbuilding giant, Hyundai Heavy Industries, has delivered its latest very large crude carrier (VLCC), DABA, to Oman Shipping Company (OSC) at a yard in Ulsan.

The new tanker named DABA measures out at 333-meters long, 317,000-DWT, 60-meter beam, and a 21-meter design draft.  DABA was built to be operated in the VL8 pool for NAVIG8, a company in which OSC is a shareholder.  The delivery of DABA is OSC’s third VLCC delivery out of five from Hyundai Heavy, and is the eleventh tanker out of a future fleet of seventeen.

OSC began commercial operations in 2003 and has a fleet of thirty ships amounting to a total of 4.6 million DWT.  On their order books, they are slated to have eleven more delivered by 2013, growing their DWT to 8 million.
