Elliott Bay Design Group LLC (EBDG) completed the functional design for a series of new 330,000-bbl capacity ATB barges under construction at VT Halter Marine.

The scope of EBDG’s work for VT Halter Marine included design of the structural, mechanical, electrical and outfitting systems. In addition, EBDG performed the engineering necessary to obtain regulatory approval of the design, including the SafeHull A and B calculations and other finite element analyses.

These Crowley 750 Class barges have a 45,000 dwt capacity, a length of 600 ft, a beam of 105.5 ft and a depth of 57 ft. They are ABS-classed and designed to carry a variety of oil or chemical products and will sail under U.S. Flag registry.

"EBDG was very excited to have this opportunity to work with VT Halter. Our goal throughout the project was to provide a quality technical package that supported our client’s quality work," said EBDG's Chief Concept Engineer John Waterhouse.
