AmaWaterways Christens AmaLea, Reveals AmaMagna
AmaWaterways has christened its newest river cruise ship, AmaLea, with a ceremony in Vilshofen, Germany.
The 154-guest AmaLea features AmaWaterways’ twin balconies which offer panoramic views from both a French and outside balcony. She also has four suites (350 square feet), connecting staterooms and triple occupancy staterooms designed for multi-generational families. The ship also offers gourmet dining at multiple venues including The Chef’s Table; a heated sun deck swimming pool with a swim-up bar; a fitness center and spa; complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the ship; and in-room Entertainment-On-Demand; and a fleet of bicycles with the option of guided tours.
Sister ship to AmaViola, AmaStella and AmaKristina, AmaLea will sail seven-night cruises on the Danube between Vilshofen and Budapest during the summer and fall.
Her christening follows release of renderings for AmaWaterways' newest ship AmaMagna. Debuting in May 2019, AmaMagna is nearly double the width of traditional river cruise ships but welcomes only 20 percent more guests. More than half of the 98 staterooms are designated as suites, measuring between 355 and 710 square feet.

“As the luxury river cruise market evolves, we plan to continue paving the way as an innovative industry leader,” said Rudi Schreiner, president and co-owner of AmaWaterways. “With more personal space, the freedom of multiple dining venues and exceptional accommodations, AmaMagna has been designed for those seeking a fresh, contemporary and dynamic take on river cruising as well as ocean cruisers accustomed to the luxury of more.”
Exclusive to AmaMagna, the vessel offers a new Concierge Golf Program, providing the opportunity to experience four top-level golf courses in Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Germany. AmaMagna’s itineraries include Romantic Danube, Melodies of the Danube and Christmas Markets on the Danube.
