Wärtsilä is to be presented with the Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Scheme for Machinery. The presentation ceremony will take place on September 7 during the SMM exhibition in Hamburg at the Lloyd Register stand (Hall B, stand 105).

Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Schemes provide an alternative to traditional survey techniques utilising quality principles for the certification of machinery, components, materials and hull structures. The product's quality can thus be accessed through a combination of product and system monitoring and quality assurance principles

The project involved close cooperation between Lloyd's Register and Wärtsilä and was initiated in mid 2015. The approval relates not only to the manufacturing plant, but extends also to include the core element in the supply chain. The recognition covers the manufacturing of internal combustion engines at the Wärtsilä facilities in Trieste, Italy, being the first company to have qualified for this award.

"This recognition represents an important milestone for Wärtsilä and is a clear endorsement of our policy of continuous improvement. It sends a strong message to our customers and to the market in general, regarding the value adding quality of the Wärtsilä engines," says Stefan Wiik, Vice President, Engines, Wärtsilä Marine Solutions.

Lloyd's Register's Quality Assurance Schemes are designed to provide manufacturers and their clients with confidence in the final product that is at least equivalent to that obtained from traditional survey techniques.

Meet us at the SMM conference and exhibition in Hamburg, Germany, Stand 312 in Hall B6, from September 5 to 9.
