Radically New Solas-Certified Throwable Device

Whether faced with a man-overboard situation or worst-case scenario—a sinking—professional mariners understand the importance of reliable safety gear. Life Cell Marine Safety manufactures the radically new Life Cell Crewman. It's an innovative container that holds user-supplied survival and signaling gear, and is a SOLAS-certified Throwable Buoyancy Device rated to support four people in the water.

In the best of conditions, it can take minutes to get a rescue boat in the water in a man-overboard situation. And while a personnel recovery device is quick to deploy, it's no match for a vessel doing even just 3 knots, which can travel 100 yards in only 60 seconds. A thrown, highly visible Life Cell can contain a full SOLAS kit, including rocket flares, flare gun, smoke, air horn, EPIRB, VHF or other safety gear best-suited for the boat's working conditions. The device remains fully buoyant open or closed, and a series of clips and retaining devices hold equipment in place.

In the case of a sinking, the Life Cell floats off its included mounting brackets. Eight integrated handles and lanyards keep people together.

The Life Cell Crewman is manufactured from durable impact, fire, fuel and UV-resistant material with stainless steel hardware. It's 27.5" H x 22.8" W x 8.7" D. It comes with a two-year warranty and starts at $469.
