Introducing EverSteel?-X FSRU Mooring Line

The first mooring line designed specifically for FSRUs - GasTech 2017 

Samson, the worldwide leader in high-performance rope and market leader in mooring applications, is pleased to introduce its newest fiber rope innovation at Gastech:  EverSteel-X, a line designed specifically for FSRUs (Floating Storage Regasification Units) and other semi-permanent mooring applications.     

EverSteel-X is a superior alternative to wire rope; providing all the traditional advantages of high modulus polyethylene (HMPE): light weight, abrasion resistance, improved tension and bend fatigue, no re-lubing requirements, and work force safety.  EverSteel-X utilizes Dyneema^® DM20 fiber, which provides necessary dimensional stability and high-quality performance over long periods of continuous loading, and performs well in long-term quay-side mooring arrangements.   Its 12-strand construction enables thorough, easy inspection and line cropping, to allow for effective long-term maintenance.  Samson’s proprietary coating technology results in minimized internal and external abrasion.  The rope’s bold, bi-color blue and black stranding also allows for easy twist identification.  These features result in a more efficient, ultimately more reliable, mooring arrangement.    

Samson offers more than the rope itself, partnering with customers and providing line history tracking, monitoring, and life-modeling.  The combination of Samson’s rope technology and service platform creates predictability to long-term rope behavior and retirement, providing assurance throughout the operational life of the FSRU project.
