Conley Growth Sees the Addition of Laura Martin
Conley Marine Services has appointed Laura Martin as their new Director of Sales and Business Development. Laura comes from an industry-facing role with MarineCFO where she developed marketing strategies for all MarineCFO products including solutions for brownwater, bluewater, and the passenger vessel markets.
Daniel Babin, President at Conley Marine Services, commented on the appointment “Since our purchase of the Conley Boatyard six months ago we have seen substantial growth in work volume and the expansion of both our core business solutions and niche offerings. We have seen an increase in demand for our Regulatory Compliance/Project Management Division, and we believe Laura’s appointment will help us build on this base and develop into the leading inland yard in New Orleans.
“Laura has an impressive understanding of the challenges facing the inland marine industry and has demonstrated the ability to transfer this knowledge into functional products and services that solve operational industry problems.”
Martin says, “I am excited to be joining Conley Marine Services, which is rapidly earning a reputation for quality work in one of the most challenging periods for the workboat sector. I look forward to using my experience and contacts to ensure that we deliver solutions workboat owners want and need, in a way that keeps clients coming back.”
In 2018, with SubChapter M looming heavily on the brown-water industry’s list of priorities, Laura became a certified SubChapter M Lead Auditor and Surveyor through Decatur Marine Audit and Survey. “These certifications have helped me better understand the challenges faced by marine companies. I try to focus on learning more about what makes each operator unique, and how our services and products can grow to help our clients operate profitably and safely in a time of increasing regulatory oversight.”
Martin has long-standing family history of mariners, marine engineers, and electricians. She entered the maritime industry 15 years ago when her employer, an accounting software company, delved into the marine space. Throughout her maritime sector tenure, she has helped sell and implement various technology solutions for countless marine companies, including products to facilitate fleet maintenance, crew management and HR, operations, billing, and compliance.
Martin is also a certified ISM Lead Auditor and an active member in both WiMos and WISTA. “I am pleased and excited to join the Conley Marine team and broaden my skillset with a new role in the industry I have come to love.”
