W&O Introduces Sperre Coolers as New OEM Partner

W&O, a global supplier to the marine and upstream oil and gas markets for pipe, valves and fittings, valve automation, and engineered solutions, has partnered with Sperre Coolers, a Norwegian company, to distribute heat exchangers to the maritime industry in North America. W&O will introduce Sperre Coolers and its products at the International WorkBoat Show in New Orleans, La.

Sperre Coolers recently introduced two new lines of heat exchangers aimed primarily at the offshore service vessel and towage market – pleat coolers and rack coolers. W&O will feature the pleat cooler in its WorkBoat booth #2118. Sperre Pleat Coolers provide customers with many advantages including ease of maintenance, outstanding performance and the compact size of the cooler. The module-based design with open elements makes completion of the required disassembly and cleaning process much easier and quicker. In Sperre’s design, a single pleat element housed in its own cartridge replaces between 15 and 20 plates and gaskets, and reduces maintenance time up to 80-percent for the entire cooler.

“W&O is excited to debut this unique product offering at the International WorkBoat show,” said Todd Nestel, director of engineered solutions at W&O. “The Sperre pleat cooler has a low life cycle cost, reduces maintenance time and offers a retrofit solution for customers replacing plate heat exchangers. At W&O we work to find innovative solutions to address problems our customers face, and this partnership is a prime example of that philosophy.”

The Sperre Pleat Coolers are available in a variety of sizes and offer solutions for central cooling, auxiliary, and various combinations of engine cooling. The technology is built on the same basic principles as conventional plate coolers, with the exception of the larger plate size, formed as one element. Each cooling element consists of continuous titanium from coil that is folded (pleated) and sealed at each end, as well as a frame with handles that encloses the titanium element.

“Sperre is proud to partner with W&O to bring our product to the North American maritime industry. W&O’s expertise in the industry and expansive network of branches made W&O the perfect fit for Sperre’s growth initiatives,” said Gard Sem, vice president of sales and marketing at Sperre Coolers.
