Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads LLP is pleased to announce that Shaun Carroll has joined the firm’s Maritime and Transportation Practice Group in its New York office. Carroll is an experienced litigator and advisor with a broad range of experience in commercial disputes arising out of international shipping and trade.

Since 1980, Carroll has successfully represented ship owners, ship charterers, oil traders, cruise ship operators and London, Norway, Tokyo and U.S. based marine underwriters, in a broad range of matters in federal and state trial and appellate courts in New York. He has conducted investigations of and assisted in coordination of onsite response to major casualties such as ship fires, oil spills and mid-ocean storm damage to container vessels. His practice also includes extensive experience in insurance coverage disputes. Carroll's practice is international in scope in terms of the parties represented and the law applied, and relies on a broad range of contacts with law firms, underwriters and shipping-related businesses around the world, with particular concentration in the U.S., London, Scandinavia and, increasingly, Asia.

Prior to joining Montgomery McCracken, Carroll was in-house counsel for Shipowners Claims Bureau and manager for the American Steamship Owners P&I Club, a major international marine insurer. He graduated from Fordham University in 1977 and received a J.D. degree from Fordham Law School in 1980.
