Horizon Shipbuilding of Bayou La Batre, AL announced the recent acquisition and development of its “West Yard” facilities, essentially tripling Horizon’s production capacity.  The “West Yard” adds approximately 22 acres to Horizon’s footprint, including 3,000’ of waterfront, 3 production bays, as well as multiple launchways.

Located directly across the Bayou from its main yard, the new yard is already being used to gear up production on a contract to build 40 each 41’7” crew boats over the next twenty months for an unspecified customer.  The Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 1204’s are a Damen design and are being designed and built to Bureau Veritas standards. The vessels are outfitted with two Caterpillar C7 main engines driving Ultrajet model U340 waterjets, propelling the craft to a maximum speed of 25 knots. The FCS 1204 comfortably carries 12 passengers and 2 crew and has berthing and messing facilities for the crew.
