Harris Pye Group and Cyrus-RW form International Alliance

Published Feb 11, 2013 10:41 AM by The Maritime Executive

Harris Pye Group and Cyrus-RW  Group announced this week that they have formed an alliance to co-operate on engineering projects throughout the world.

Cyrus and Harris Pye will work together to secure and fulfil marine, offshore and power contracts, from large steel installations for marine vessels and rigs to power plant equipment.

Harris Pye already has 21 bases in 13 countries and is one of the world’s only companies to offer a complete gamut of repair, upgrade and conversion services to the marine, offshore oil and gas and onshore industrial sectors.  Projects range from major structural steel repairs and installations to automation and control systems.  Its clients include the likes of Shell, Chevron, SBM Offshore, Maersk and Atwood Oceanics.

Cyrus has over 50 years’ experience in heavy mechanical engineering, and is looking to increase its international presence and sales.  The company has sites in Cardiff, Neath, Aberdeen and Tyne and Wear, and has recently won large contracts with Emirates Steel in Abu Dhabi and the West Delta Electricity Production Company in Egypt.  Other clients include blue chips such as Conoco, Petrobras and Murco.

“Creating a strong long-term relationship with Cyrus is a win-win for both companies” comments Harris Pye Group MD, Mark Prendergast.  “Cyrus has specialised precision machinery to reverse engineer and refurbish ‘giant’ engineering parts and equipment such as marine and industrial power gearboxes, which we don’t.  Having them on-board means we will have an assured supply of first class, large scale, heavy engineering expertise and equipment.  Our combined capabilities will be particularly valuable to the marine and offshore industries, as it puts us in a position to offer complete turnkey packages no matter how large the project.  This is naturally a very attractive proposition, as it saves both time and costs.”

“We’re delighted to have formed an alliance with Harris Pye, and are very much looking forward to working with them on a global scale” says Cyrus Chairman, Ian Watkins.  “We’ve experienced significant growth over the last three years, and are confident that working alongside Harris Pye, we can increase turnover by 50% over the next three years.”
