Governor Tom Corbett to Welcome Horizon Lines to Philadelphia
Ceremony welcoming arrival of Horizon vessels will be held at Packer Avenue Marine Terminal on April 18
With newly-arrived Horizon Lines cargo from San Juan, Puerto Rico being unloaded in the background, Pennsylvania’s Governor, Tom Corbett, and Packer Avenue Marine Terminal officials on Thursday, April 18 at 1:30 p.m, will officially welcome Horizon Lines to the Port of Philadelphia.
Governor Corbett, along with Horizon’s President & CEO, Sam Woodward, and senior leadership from Greenwich Terminals and Astro Holdings, a Holt family affiliate that runs the Packer Terminal for the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, will celebrate this important economic development for the regional economy. Immediately following the ceremony, guests and members of the press will have an opportunity to take a guided tour of the facilities at the Terminal.
Horizon Lines gives the Port of Philadelphia a major new carrier that will provide an outstanding opportunity to expand trade connections between the Greater Philadelphia region, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Horizon will be calling Philadelphia on a weekly basis every Thursday. This new business will generate approximately 400 direct and indirect new jobs at the Port, Port-related businesses, and the region.
