Video: Behind the Scenes of the Prelude Mooring Operation
Royal Dutch Shell has released an official video showing the mooring operations of its Prelude FLNG now located in the Browse Basin, offshore northwest Australia.
Prelude, built at the Samsung Heavy Industries yard in Geoje, South Korea, is the largest floating offshore facility ever built and is among the world's largest vessels by displacement.
The FLNG was secured with 16 mooring lines in August, and commissioning is expected to take between 9-12 months.
Prelude will produce 3.6 million tons per annum (mtpa) of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate and 0.4 mtpa of LPG. The project is operated by Shell in a joint venture with Inpex (17.5 percent), Kogas (10 percent) and OPIC (five percent).
