Solar Solve Marine Finishes 2014 Strong

Published Jan 15, 2015 11:46 AM by The Maritime Executive

In the last two months of 2014 UK based Solar Solve Marine received a number of large orders totaling almost £400,000 for SOLASOLV® sunscreens and ROLASOLV® blackout roller blinds which needed to be manufactured and dispatched before Christmas. This signaled a terrific end to the year for the South Shields based company resulting in record sales for 2014 and a good start to 2015 with an order to supply screens to the Queen Mary 2 [pictured]. Although not for a large volume of screens, it is for one of the most prestigious cruise ships in the world!

Solar Solve have specialized in providing sun and glare protection to the marine and offshore industry for almost 30 years, and the SOLASOLV® brand of anti-glare screen is installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide. Regarded as essential safety equipment, the screens effectively reject up to 87% of heat and up to 93% of glare from the sun, significantly reducing eye-strain and fatigue, and improving outward visibility.  SOLASAFE® screens are guaranteed for 7 years and the only ones in the world to be Type Approved by DNV, Lloyds’ and ABS. ROLASOLV® blackout blinds are installed at cabin windows to create ideal sleeping conditions, day or night.  They are Type Approved by DNV and comply with the mandatory IMO FTPC Part 7 A.563(14) Resolution.

Adam Reilly, Production Supervisor at Solar Solve commented, “These large orders were great for the company.  They kept our staff very busy, even working a lot of extra hours, but I’m delighted that we managed to get all of the orders manufactured and dispatched on time.  It was a great effort from all involved, not just the production team but also some members of our administration team who also helped out in the factory to ensure the deadlines were met!”
