Core Group Resources adds a Geo Science Division
The newspapers’ latest figures show 350,000 jobs lost worldwide from oil's price collapse over the past two years. Texas alone has laid off 99,000 oil industry related workers. Decreases in revenue and slow economic growth are causing many energy companies to rapidly reduce their permanent workforce of engineers, geologists, technicians and rig workers in order to stay competitive. The short term result is allowing companies to stay competitive and maintain their market share but in doing so they may risk their long term success.
Many of these workers have had to move on to other industries or face an early retirement, either way the end result is less supply as demand increases. According to Core Group Resources estimates, the industry will start to see a large increase in activity by the second quarter of 2017. So, what are these companies going to do when faced with a shortage of skilled workers?
Matt Fuhrman, CEO of Core Group Resources in Houston, TX, has a solution. "Our job has always been anticipating the needs of our clients, so today we are announcing our entry into the Geo Science arena. We will supply the upcoming demand for skilled oil & gas professionals.” Core Group is able to source, recruit and place both temporary and permanent workers in a timely and cost efficient manner. This is very appealing to companies facing upcoming shortages.
Fuhrman says he saw a skills gap in the maritime industry, “As a licensed mariner and Houston Board Director of the US Merchant Marine Academy Port of Houston Chapter, I leveraged my connections and knowledge to create a successful company. I am now applying that same recipe to our Geo Science division by adding a professional Geologist, Justin Vandenbrink, to our team."
Vandenbrink has worked for the past 16 years in the geological consulting industry helping place quality consultants for clients around the world. Actively involved with the AAPG, HGS and SEG, Vandenbrink will serve as Technical Director using his extensive network of contacts to help connect clients with consultants covering everything from Wellsite Geologists and Wireline QC Engineers to Marine Mammal Observers. "If there is a need at a rig site, the office or in the field...we can cover it" says Vandenbrink.
