Caterpillar Showcases Propulsion Solutions, New Power Platforms at 2014 MIBS

Caterpillar Marine will showcase a comprehensive range of marine propulsion and power solutions for the yacht industry at the 2014 Miami International Boat Show, held February 13th – 17th in Miami, Florida. Featured at this year’s show include the relaunched Cat® Reman 3116, 3126 and 3126B platforms, cost-effective proven high performance engines for yachts. Caterpillar will also showcase the Cat Three60 suite of propulsion solutions and new Cat displays in a comprehensive simulator on display at the Caterpillar booth #P79.  Additionally, Caterpillar will have a Three60 Pod 650 featured on the show floor. The pod is specifically designed for integration with the new Cat C8.7 turbocharged/supercharged engine, which will be on display at the Caterpillar booth.

Also featured will be the C32 ACERT™ EPA Tier 3 certified high performance engine as well as the C18 ACERT EPA Tier 3 certified high performance engine. The C32 ACERT EPA Tier 3 certified engine boasts a new aftercooler for increased reliability, a new plug-in Power Take Off (PTO) for enhanced flexibility as well as a new control panel. The new C18 high performance engine features the same compact footprint as previous C18 platforms as well as several new design enhancements. The C18 marine engine rated at 1150 hp offers vessel operators emissions reductions with improved fuel consumption and fuel efficiency at both rated and cruising speeds. Additionally, the 1150 mhp rating also provides excellent transient response for superior acceleration (1150 mhp rating only).

Caterpillar will also feature the OCEARCH team at the 2014 Miami Boat Show, including founder Chris Fischer and Captain Brett McBride. Sponsored by Caterpillar, OCEARCH leads expeditions around the globe to safely research the breeding, feeding, migration and birthing patterns of sharks. Fischer and McBride will be available for autographs and pictures on Saturday, February 15th from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Caterpillar booth.

In addition to the Cat Reman 3126 engine, C18 Tier 3 engine, C32 Tier 3 engine and C8.7 super/turbocharged marine engine, Caterpillar will have industry experts will be on hand, readily available to answer any questions on its comprehensive range of product and service solutions. Customers interested in signing up for a demonstration on the Lisa K, a Paul Mann 66 foot sport fish vessel equipped with  Cat Three60 Precision Control should contact their local dealer or stop by the Caterpillar booth to register for a demo during the show.
