Ambrey Risk Has Successfully Completed Stage 1 Of The ISO 28007 Process
Security specialist Ambrey Risk, based in Hereford UK, has shown its commitment to preparing for the new ISO 28007 standard by being one of the first Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs) to train internal auditors and has now successfully completed Stage 1 of the ISO 28007 process, in collaboration with Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).
Already certified to ISO 9001, the company is one of the first PMSCs to have conducted such training in preparation for the new ISO/PAS 28007 accreditation, industry guidelines for Private Maritime Security Companies. With the Gap Analysis being an integral part of the initial process, Ambrey was presented with an action plan, better enabling the company to strategically plan and focus all efforts towards the auditing process of Stage 1. This initial audit process ran smoothly, with the Ambrey Risk team well informed with regards to the most recent developments within the industry.
The International Standardisation Organisation Publicly Available Specification 28007, as part of the ISO 28000 Security Management System family, establishes the internationally recognised guidelines for PMSCs providing privately contracted armed security personnel on-board ships. The next step for the company is to further develop its processes in preparation for Stage 2, commencing in late September.
Ambrey’s internal auditors were selected from across all departments within the company and will be responsible for auditing each of the business functions at least once a year to identify any opportunities for continual improvement.
Deputy Managing Director, James Gasson-Hargreaves, commented: “The implementation of international standards such as ISO/PAS 28007 takes time, money and resources. However, at Ambrey Risk, we intend to continue setting the benchmark for regulatory compliance and professionalism in maritime security, so this year we have been devoting extra resources and effort towards training internal auditors in preparation for ISO28007 Stage 1 accreditation.”
