Video: Bunker Barge Explosion Injures Two

[Brief] On Thursday morning in the port of Taranto, Italy, the bunker barge Mercuria caught fire and exploded. Two crew suffered mild injuries.  

The cause of the fire has not been determined but local media indicate that maintenance activity could have sparked the blaze. 

Three harbor patrol boats and a team of shoreside firefighters responded, and the fire was extinguished within about ten minutes. 

Pollution control techs responded quickly to contain any risk of pollution, and there have been no reports of a spill. The barge was mostly empty at the time of the incident.
