The Royal Navy is investigating the sudden death of a 20-year-old sailor onboard the HMS CATTISTOCK.

Police officers were called to Portsmouth Naval base Sunday. Officers have reported the death of the minesweeper was not being treated as suspicious, and they are not looking for anyone one else in connection with the death.

The man has not been formally identified, but his family has been notified.

The Portsmouth News reports that the sailor is believed to have committed suicide by shooting himself in the head onboard the ship, however police will not confirm the cause of death.

HMS Cattistock is based in Portsmouth, and is back home following the Tall Ships' Parade in Hartlepool last month, as part of the finale to the Tall Ships' Race.
