International cargoes shipped through Vancouver's ocean port rose 24 percent in the first quarter over last year, causing a backlog of two weeks.
In the United States, both Union Pacific and CSX have also reported delays, congestion, and backlogs, as the international freight volumes are booming because the North American economy is strong.
The robust Asian markets are being driven by the growth in China's exports.
