Goltens is an independent repair specialist and will expand HD Hyundai's position in aftermarket services (Goltens)

Goltens Worldwide, long recognized as a leader in planning and performance maintenance and repair work, has agreed to be acquired by HD Hyundai Marine Solution (HMS). With HMS, Goltens says it sees considerable scope to invest, grow, and develop capabilities, while for HD Hyundai, it provides a critical opportunity to expand its aftermarket support globally.

The proposed acquisition, the companies explained, offers opportunities to expand technical capabilities, strengthen its global service coverage, and support investment in people, facilities, and technologies. Together, Goltens and HMS see significant potential to help customers meet increasingly complex maintenance, operational efficiency, and decarbonization requirements across the marine, energy, and industrial sectors.

Goltens, which describes itself as the only independent repair specialist to offer all-inclusive worldwide service, says the deal will bring together its global engineering and service capabilities with the complementary strengths of HMS. Goltens says its global network of service centers and field engineering teams will create strong synergies with HMS, enabling the combined organization to better serve the growing aftermarket customer base, including the large fleet of vessels and engines built by HD Hyundai.

The company says it works with over 3,000 shipowners, shipyards, industrial plants, and power stations annually. Established in 1940, Goltens currently has 28 locations in 15 countries.

HD Hyundai highlights Goltens' strong expertise in maintenance, repair, and overhaul for 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines used in ships and land-based power plants, from a broad range of manufacturers. The South Korean company has been working to expand its role in the aftermarket.

According to reports in the Korean media, HMS will acquire all the shares of Goltens for approximately $247 million. The transaction is anticipated to be completed in the late fourth quarter of 2026 or early first quarter of 2027. Following completion, Goltens will continue to operate as an independent service provider, maintaining the service approach, customer relationships, and technical expertise.
