Goltens Worldwide Management Corporation and Belco Technologies Corporation (BELCO), a DuPont company, have signed an alliance memorandum of understanding agreement to collaborate on the marketing, sale, installation and service of DuPont™ Marine Scrubbers produced by BELCO. DuPont™ Marine Scrubbers remove SOx and particulate emissions from marine diesel engines and boilers to help ship owners meet current and planned sulphur emissions limits. The agreement comes just a month before IMO MEPC 70 meets to vote on whether 2020 will be the year of implementation of the Global Sulphur cap.

The agreement allows each company to focus on its core strengths while taking advantage of the adjacencies that an alliance will bring. “It is because of the high level of trust and faith in each other’s technical capabilities and offerings that this agreement was able to be reached,” comments Tom Saley, BELCO president. BELCO specializes in the process engineering, design, construction and packaging of the DuPont exhaust gas cleaning system. Goltens, through its Goltens Green Technologies group, specializes in the retrofitting of technology packages that meet new marine environmental regulations, including 3D scanning, ship engineering and turn-key installations. Goltens, which has already successfully installed a number of scrubbers as well as over 100 ballast water treatment systems, will be BELCO’s preferred partner for these services.

In addition, Goltens will provide third-party aftermarket servicing of exhaust gas cleaning systems to ships carrying the DuPont™ Marine Scrubber technology. As Roy Strand, chief operating officer of Goltens points out, “This partnership with BELCO leverages the strengths and needs of both companies.  Our global service network allows us to service ships with DuPont™ Marine Scrubber technology on board in a timely manner wherever they sail in the world.”

Goltens also will serve as sales agent for the DuPont™ Marine Scrubber at select Goltens Stations including in the Middle East, Europe, and the USA. Additional details will follow in the coming weeks.

Ultimately the three-prong alliance of sales, installation services and after-market services will serve to streamline activities for the client, making the experience of selecting, purchasing, and installing a turn-key scrubber system anywhere in the world easier and faster. With two great and trusted companies working closely together, owners know they will be in capable hands with their exhaust gas cleaning needs.
