Boluda Corporacion Maritima subsidiary, 3rd towing operator, ordered a new 4 tugs series to Piriou and just took delivery of the first two units. The two following units will be delivered during 1st semester 2016.

Built by PIRIOU Vietnam with a standard design by Piriou including Boluda’s proposed adaptations, ‘VB Ouragan’ and ‘VB Cyclone’ feature a 30.30 m length and 70 tons bollard pull, and will be deployed in St Nazaire and Dunkerque.

This delivery follows a first series of eight 70 tons bollard pull tugs also built by Piriou for Boluda France between 2007 and 2009.

Vincent Faujour, Piriou General Manager declares: “Following the building of over fifteen tugs in Concarneau since 1998, our Vietnamese shipyard has been able to maintain the confidence of a longstanding customer in building these two new generation tugs according to our quality standards while complying with the delivery date. Boluda France is a major customer for Piriou and we are proud to be their partner.”

Denis Monserand, Boluda France General Manager says: « With these two new tugs, Boluda France follows its investments towards harbors in order to support their development and improve the quality of the services offered to its customers.

I am highly satisfied with the result of our collaboration with Piriou which enabled to design vessels perfectly suited to operating constraints in the harbors where we work».

Multipurpose harbor and coastal ASD tugs with Escort class:

VB Ouragan’ and ‘VB Cyclone’ are the ‘OST 30’ (Omni Stern Tug) first units in the new tugs range designed by Piriou.

The ’OST 30’ is a multipurpose tug developed for ‘push pull’ type towage and harbor assistance operations as well as deep sea towage operations. With a 30.30 m hull length, she is also fitted for assistance to vessels in access channels.

This tug is equipped with 2 aft azimuth propellers (Azimuth Stern Drive). These propellers are driven by 2 marine medium speed turbocharged four-stroke Diesel engines fresh-water cooled with box cooler refrigerants.

At the bridge, the special ergonomic control station enables the captain to operate steering and maneuvering without assistance thanks to a panoramic visibility both horizontally and vertically over the working area and its surroundings.

In order to answer the operating conditions required by BOLUDA FRANCE, these two tugs are equipped with many options including:

- Fi-Fi equipment for fire fighting
- Aft sea towing winch and tugger winch for deep sea towage
- Double drum fore winch with Escort function

In addition, the state of the art equipment of these tugs will be an answer to the specific requirements of customers of the marine renewable energies sector.

The ’OSTs 30’ are designed to be maintained every 5 years with special antifouling and ICAF system. Their accommodations are in accordance with ILO 2006 requirements and special attention was paid to noise reduction.
