The Landing School Partners with Southern New Hampshire University to Offer Bachelor's Degree
The Landing School and Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) are pleased to announce they have signed a transfer agreement that provides a seamless pathway for any Landing School associate degree graduate to complete SNHU's Bachelor of Science in Technical Management.
With the creation of this partnership, a Landing School graduate who completes the school's associate degree program in Marine Industry Technology will be able to transfer a minimum of 54 credits to complete SNHU's 120-credit bachelor's program in Technical Management that consists of a strong business core and upper-level management courses. SNHU's Technical Management degree can be completed on campus or online.
The Landing School's Associate of Applied Science in Marine Industry Technology (MIT) provides a broad, yet strong foundation in the marine industry as a whole. Graduates of the associate degree program have a wide range of professional opportunities and a solid understanding of the business practices behind the marine industry. The MIT associate's degree typically takes two years to complete and is comprised of general education courses and classes in one of four concentrations: Comprehensive Boat Building; Boat Building and Marine Systems; Boat Building and Yacht Design; or Yacht Design and Marine Systems.
SNHU's Bachelor of Science in Technical Management is designed for those who have earned an associate degree in specialized skill areas such as marine industry technology. The technical management program allows students to take business and liberal arts courses that will open career opportunities in a number of fields, including management of small business enterprises and nonprofit agencies and organizations. Once a Landing School graduate has transferred into this program, it will typically take two years to complete the bachelor's degree. Students who opt to take this program online while they work will have unlimited time to complete their coursework.
"While The Landing School has always provided the marine industry with highly qualified and skilled graduates, marine industry leaders have also asked us to prepare the next generation of supervisors, managers and executives," said Landing School President Bob DeColfmacker. "This partnership with SNHU provides our graduates an opportunity, no matter where they work or travel after graduation, to continue their studies and obtain the necessary management qualifications to advance in their careers and build a strong marine industry."
In addition to the cost-savings afforded by guaranteed transfer of credit, SNHU recently announced a tuition freeze that locks in 2012 tuition rates for 2013 and applies to undergraduate and graduate courses taken online or at SNHU centers in Manchester, Nashua, Portsmouth and Salem, N.H., and Brunswick, Maine. The 2013 tuition freeze comes amidst additional recent efforts to keep costs for students down, including tuition discounts for active-duty military and new agreements with bookstore vendors that will result in $2.5 million in student savings.
"SNHU is committed to providing access to a high-quality bachelor's degree education at an affordable cost," says SNHU President Paul LeBlanc. "We recognize the time, effort, and sacrifice spent in pursuing an associate's degree and are thrilled that Landing School graduates will have their excellent educational experience fully recognized and will not have to worry about transfer of credit while advancing their education and careers."
