SSI Enhances Security of Software Licenses
SSI (formerly ShipConstructor Software Inc.) will be making significant changes coinciding with the upcoming release of ShipConstructor 2015 (targeted for release in July 2014). These changes are primarily internal, streamlining the delivery of our products and services, and will be largely invisible to our clients. However clients will experience some peripheral effects of these changes.
First of all, the company will be modernizing the delivery of its licenses, adding convenience and security. The "hardware" lock will be retired as clients move to newer versions of the software, replaced by a downloadable, electronic license. The retirement of the hardware lock also retires many limitations on the delivery of the software, making possible many more licensing configuration options for the company’s clients.
Some of the new options are the ability of SSI to offer suites and the ability of clients to upgrade and cross-grade licenses. There will be no price increases on existing products as a result of these changes.
SSI will also discontinue the concept of "back dated" subscription. Subscription purchasing options will be available to ensure software remains current as new versions are released. This change may have a significant impact on clients who have let subscription lapse. The company highly recommends getting and keeping subscriptions current to maximize autodesk investments. This enables clients to be on the cutting edge and utilize the latest and greatest software from SSI in the most cost effective way.
