Alfa Laval Wins Order for New Waste Fuel Recovery System
Alfa Laval has won an order from a leading global carrier to supply the Alfa Laval PureDry waste fuel recovery system to 40 vessels. The order is valued at approximately US$6 million (SEK 40 million) and delivery is scheduled for 2014 and 2015.
The Alfa Laval PureDry system recovers all reusable fuel from a vessel’s waste fuel oil. Alfa Laval PureDry is a unique combination of separation technologies, a new type of high-speed centrifugal separator, combining a solid bowl with self-cleaning technology. The system will be installed on board 40 vessels.
“This is indeed a very significant order for our unique Alfa Laval PureDry system that is reaching wide acceptance among shipowners. The order confirms a clear confidence in this energy-saving product,” says Lars Renström, president and CEO of the Alfa Laval group.
A large ship that burns 100 metric tonnes of oil per day could potentially save about $450,000 (SEK 3 million) in a year by installing the system.
