Germany's Only LNG Ferry Helgoland Launched
The MS Helgoland, one of the most modern and innovative LNG ships in Europe, was recently launched. MS Helgoland is Germany's only LNG-powered ferry.
At the moment, work is ongoing with respect to the interior fixtures.
In fact, the ship should have entered service in May 2015. Due to delays, the first trips are now planned for summer 2015 - which doesn't do any harm, really, because the MS Atlantis is, of course, still toughing it out on the Hamburg-Cuxhaven-Helgoland line. And we will have an opportunity to talk about pitfalls in newbuilding contracts in a later blog post…
This lovely photo was made by Cassen Eils Chief Hartmut Lührs, the other two by Captain Ewald Bebber.
The elaborate and upscale interior will require a little more time 'til completion.
Now with paint, she makes a very different impression. Click here for earlier photos.
We're sincerely grateful to Ms Carina Habben of Cassen Eils for kindly granting us the rights to use the above pictures. Many thanks!
