Last Wednesday, a dive boat carrying ten cruise ship passengers went down off the coast of Cozumel, Mexico. The tourists had just set out on a diving trip when the boat began taking on water. The passengers jumped over the side, and they were rescued shortly after by first responders. No significant injuries were reported.

All of the passengers were cruisers from the vessels Celebrity Equinox and Navigator of the Seas, both departing from Miami. One passenger expressed gratitude for the fact that all survived without injury.

"Today I did an excursion with @RoyalCaribbean to a dive trip at Cozumel. The dive boat sank and I lost everything (cell phone, wallet, wet passport, etc). Waiting to see how they will reimburse me. At least no death like the bus," wrote cruiser Thiago Koga in a twitter post. "I’d imagine what the people/families from crashed bus suffered."

Koga's comments referred to the fatal accident in December when a tour bus overturned near Mahahual, Quintana Roo, killing 11 tourists and one guide. The bus was on its way to the Mayan ruins at Chacchoben, carrying passengers from the Celebrity Equinox and Serenade of the Seas.

Separately, in December, a glass-bottomed tour boat in Cozumel suffered flooding and eventually sank when the glass in its hull cracked. The operator managed to return to shore and safely offloaded his passengers before his boat went down. It was later refloated and towed to a nearby marina, according to local outlet Riviera Maya News.
