Israel: Crane Collapses on Ship

A crane collapsed onto a ship docked in Israel’s southern port of Ashdod on Sunday.

There are no reports of injuries and no indication yet as to what caused the collapse which occurred about 6pm on Sunday evening.

Ashdod is one of Israel's two main cargo ports. It is situated about 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of Tel Aviv, adjoining the mouth of the Lachish River.

The collapse follows a separate incident earlier this month when a crane collapsed in a residential area of Bat Yam, near Tel Aviv, injuring several people.
