Investment in ONE Container Shipping Alliance Complete
The Japanese container shipping alliance Ocean Network Express (ONE) commenced operation on April 1, and the alliance members have now completed their investment payments
The total investment made by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line), Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) was $3 billion with K Line contributing 31 percent, MOL contributing 31 percent and NYK contributing 38 percent.
The alliance will operate around 230 vessels with a total capacity of 1.44 million TEUs. The vessels will operate on 85 services, calling at over 200 ports in 100 countries.
The alliance has tasked five senior executives with building the business.

Shunichiro Mizukami: currently the Managing Director, Region Head of East Asia, Ocean Network Express (East Asia), domiciled in Hong Kong. The area of his responsibility covers East Asia region, including China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Colin de Souza: currently the Region Head of South Asia, Ocean Network Express, domiciled in Singapore. The area of his responsibility covers South Asia region, including Indian Sub-Continent, the Middle East, Oceania and South East Asia.
Jotaro Tamura: currently the Managing Director, Region Head of Europe and Africa, Ocean Network Express (Europe), domiciled in U.K. The area of his responsibility covers Europe and Africa regions.
Nobuo Ishida: currently the President, Region Head of North America, Ocean Network Express (North America), domiciled in the U.S. The area of his responsibility covers the U.S. and Canada.
Peter Duifhuizen: currently the President, Region Head of Latin America, Ocean Network Express (Latin America), domiciled in Brazil. The area of his responsibility covers Latin America.
