The first ever LPG carrier to be built in the Philippines was named late last month.

The Kaprijke was built at Hanjin Heavy Industries’ Subic Shipyard and is the first of eight midsize gas carriers for the Teekay LNG and Exmar joint venture company EXMAR LPG BVBA.

The vessels were ordered in February 2013.

The midsize carrier segment covers vessels with 20-43.000m³ capacity and constitutes Exmar's core business. Demand for these carriers is mainly for the carriage of LPG and anhydrous ammonia transportation.
