California Father Accused of Throwing Son Overboard During a Harbor Cruise Tour

In California, a father is being accused of throwing his 7-year-old son overboard into Newport Harbor during a harbor cruise while the boat was moving. Sloane Briles, 35, claims that he was just playing with his son, having fun and they jumped in the water together.
Witnesses are telling a different story to police. They are saying that Briles hit his son and tossed him into the water after the boy got upset over an argument that Briles and his girlfriend had gotten into. Nearby boat passengers rushed over to save the boy, who was scared but fine. Briles also proceeded to jump in the water after his son, but he had already been rescued.
Deputies stated that Briles was combative, resisted arrest, and is believed to have been drinking upon being taken into custody. He was booked on suspicion of child endangerment and resisting arrest, but was released after posting bail on his $100,000 bond. The 7-year-old was later turned over to his mother.
