With soaring sandstone cliffs, crystal blue-green waters and abundant wildlife, it's easy to forget that the Colorado River isn't just a stunning recreational resource, it also serves an important role in the Southwest as a water and power delivery system. Outdoor enthusiasts can experience the beauty and history of the area with Colorado River Discovery, which offers one-day rafting tours along this mighty body of water. The company's new raft is powered by Torqeedo's Deep Blue electric propulsion system, in keeping with its environmentally friendly philosophy.

"The Deep Blue System far surpassed any other that we had seen in our research for our alternative motor program," said Korey Seyler, Colorado River Discovery general manager. "We are constantly seeking methods to improve efficiency within our operation, and ways to protect the environment in which we operate. Torqeedo has given us the ability to be leaders in the alternative propulsion field within the National Parks of the US, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity."

This is the first Deep Blue system installed in a touring raft in the US. While there were initial installation hurdles, clear communication was used through them all.

"Torqeedo was very quick to sort out these challenges and get us on the water for testing incredibly quickly. They were fast to respond to any questions, eager to set up face-to-face meetings, competent in the installation of their system with ours, and thorough in training our team through potential troubleshooting issues that may arise," continued Seyler.

"The Deep Blue system is incredibly intuitive, and the initial performance of the emissions-free raft far exceeded our expectations. I think it exceeded Torqeedo's, as well."

A fully integrated system in which all components are designed to match each other seamlessly, Deep Blue provides a unique experience in terms of safety, performance and range. It's available in 40 or 80 hp, inboard or outboard versions. The outboard is offered in remote throttle and tiller steering models.
