The election took place at Cianam’s 13th Annual Meeting on May 9th in Asunción, Paraguay. This position pays homage to Mike’s commitment to the industry. It is a well-deserved honor, recognizing Mike’s long standing record of support and participation in ASBA, Association of Ship Brokers & Agents (USA) Inc. Prior to serving as the President of ASBA, Mike chaired the Entertainment Committee for many years. He continues to be active in the Agency Affairs Committee, the committee responsible for the ground breaking “ASBA Agent Member Certification”. This initiative effectively raised the bar for ship agents operating in the USA and Canada. While serving as President of ASBA in 2008 and 2009, Mike promoted ASBA’s Certification to FONASBA, who embraced the concept and released the FONASBA Quality Standard (FQS) in 2009. The FQS is now in place in 24 countries worldwide.
