Mersey Maritime Celebrates the Glorious Twelfth
The theme for this year’s Mersey Maritime drinks reception is ‘The Glorious Twelfth’. Based around the date that marks the official opening of the grouse shooting season, Mersey Maritime has invited its highest level members to Café 4748 located on Birkenhead’s historic Georgian-style Hamilton Square on 12 August.
Sponsored by the Beech Group, members will be kept entertained by taking part in a simulated clay pigeon shoot as well as sampling some Famous Grouse whisky.
Chris Shirling-Rooke, Mersey Maritime’s Acting CEO, commented: “The maritime sector on Merseyside is booming, with 20,000 new jobs predicted by 2020 and major infrastructure projects taking place across the region. Most of Mersey Maritime’s work is about linking companies and strategic agendas to facilitate business growth, but occasionally we like to host something slightly more relaxed. The idea of celebrating ‘The Glorious Twelfth’ seemed like a fun thing to do.
“Make no mistake, though,” he added, “Events like these are hugely beneficial in terms of relationship building. For us, it’s all focused on creating stronger local supply chains and reinforcing Mersey Maritime’s value as the UK’s most dynamic maritime cluster.”
Chris Wainwright, Managing Director of the Beech Group, added: “The Beech Group is delighted to support Mersey Maritime in hosting “The Glorious Twelfth” event. Our demolition and remediation services are supplied into many sectors including maritime, with major blue chip clients such as shipyard Cammell Laird using our services on local large scale projects. Working with Mersey Maritime has been great for our business and I suspect it's going to get even better.”
