Kongsberg and DNV GL Sign Up for Nor-Shipping Leadership Conference
Geir Håøy and Remi Eriksen, the respective CEOs of KONGSBERG and DNV GL, are the latest names to sign up for Nor-Shipping’s new Ocean Leadership Conference on 4 June. The event, traditionally seen as the week’s opening conference, has been refined this year to focus on analysing, defining and enabling ocean industry leadership for a new era of business opportunity. It’s a format that has seemingly struck a chord with the industry; with Nor-Shipping confirming the conference is already approaching ‘sold out’ status.
On the brink of opportunity
“This year we’ve really focused on attracting a broad range of global leaders, from a diverse array of business, political, academic and regulatory backgrounds to deliver valuable takeaways right across the board,” comments Nor-Shipping Director Per Martin Tanggaard. “With tickets selling fast it certainly seems to be a move our audience both understands and appreciates.”
He continues: “We believe the industry is standing on the brink of a new age of commercial ocean activity – one that can provide immense opportunity for our traditional maritime audience. To realise that potential we need to adopt a joined up approach, accessing the best minds and insights from relevant fields of expertise in an effort to plan the optimal, most sustainable path forwards. In a nutshell, that is exactly what our new Ocean Leadership Conference is about.”
Global authorities
KONGSBERG’s Håøy and DNV GL’s Eriksen join an elite list of speakers and contributors that include Admiral Michael Rogers, the former director of the National Security Agency (NSA), Nobel Laureate (Economics) prize winner Paul M. Romer, IMO Secretary General Kitack Lim, Ann-Kristin Andersen, TechnipFMC’s Chief Digital Officer, and Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg, amongst others.
The two executives will take part in an onstage debate with Lise Kingo, Executive Director of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), focusing on ‘green shipping in a blue future’. This will examine how shipowners, financial institutions, equipment suppliers and cargo owners can work together to take advantage of sustainable, profitable opportunities, as well as other issues including how traditional shipping companies fit into the new ocean economy.
One of a kind
“Our speakers are now covering the most crucial areas for maritime and ocean businesses,” Tanggaard comments. “From cyber risk and security, through to evolving maritime regulations, innovative digital technology, changing market and geopolitical drivers, new energy demands, and, crucially, enabling sustainability, both commercially and environmentally.
“This is a one of a kind conference and I’d encourage anyone that wants to attend but has yet to secure a ticket to do so. I look forward to seeing you there.”
The Ocean Leadership Conference will be held in the Thon Hotel Arena Lillestrøm, sitting adjacent to Nor-Shipping’s main 21,000m2 exhibition space.
