Intermarine, LLC, the global leader in the transport of project, breakbulk and heavylift cargo, has named Lars Bonnesen as Chartering Director Europe. He has filled the post effective immediately.

Bonnesen has more than 25 years of experience in the heavylift and project cargo markets and has held positions throughout the United States, Singapore and Malaysia. In 1989 he began his career in Denmark. In 1993 he co-founded Scan Trans and served as Managing Director for 19 years until the company’s merger with Intermarine in 2012.

“It is great to have Lars back in the role given his unmatched leadership and experience,” said Al Stanley, President and CEO. “He uses his network, experiences and expertise to get the job done and to positively influence our next generation of shipping and chartering professionals – we look forward to having him take back control of the position.”

His unmatched technical, operational and leadership experience make him an invaluable asset to Intermarine. Notably, Bonnesen has been instrumental in developing Intermarine’s chartering trainee program and mentoring up and coming talent. His expertise lies in all aspects of shipping and chartering, but his main impacts can be seen in guiding the personal and professional growth of the company’s chartering trainees.

“Lars has always had a positive influence on the team in Naestved, and furthermore, his partnership approach has been a key to our continued success,” said Ask Munck, Managing Director Worldwide Chartering Services. “For the last two years Lars has been focused on successfully growing the volume of cargo we move from Europe into Africa – we look forward to our continued growth throughout Europe under his leadership.”

Bonnesen holds an EMBA in Shipping and Logistics from CBS in Copenhagen, Denmark. In his spare time he enjoys sports, hunting and spending time on his farm with his family.
