Hermes, a global leader in logistics and retail value chain services, has appointed Portrix Logistic Software (PLS) to provide its market leading Global Price Management (GPM) solution. PLS will deliver a comprehensive service covering GPM Rate Management, Quotation Management and Allocation Management helping Hermes drive greater rate transparency, predictability and efficiency across its worldwide operations.

Hamburg-headquartered PLS has been dedicated to the development of advanced logistics software since 2001. It now enjoys a position as the trusted choice of the freight forwarding industry, with five of the top ten global names opting for GPM. Hermes is the latest major logistics player to join a client list that includes names such as Kuehne & Nagel, Panalpina and CEVA

“In an increasingly complex marketplace, leading logistics firms, such as Hermes, need a simple, effective and constantly up to date tool to manage all their transport rates,” states Henning Voss, Co-founder and CEO at PLS. “GPM allows the entire organisation to do that from one centralised location, delivering meaningful business benefits.”

He continues: “Working from GPM’s unified platform enables sales processes, business management and decision making that is informed – through real-time rate transparency – and enhanced, with greater control and improved visibility over margins. It allows users to simply evaluate total transportation prices, choose the right partners and ensure correct invoicing and auditing, all with the minimal of manual work. With the addition of the Quotation Management and Allocation Management modules the entire chain can be optimised, boosting productivity and efficiency.”

“This not only delivers benefits for Hermes, but also for the worldwide customer base that relies on their high-quality service.”

Hermes, which employs nearly 13,000 people globally, will begin implementation of GPM across its operational system landscape immediately.

Speaking of the decision to choose the PLS solution, Moritz Gborglah, Head of Global Operations in Supply Chain Solution, Hermes, comments: “We have teamed up with PLS to improve our processes both internal and external. We believe that PLS is the perfect partner for our plan to strategically strengthen our digital business development in the long run."

GPM is available to the market via both a standard licence purchase and through a ‘software as a service’ (SaaS) agreement, whereby customers access the platform online. The software, built on PLS’ unrivalled wealth of master data and market understanding, is continually refined to improve user benefits and experience.
