Malta-based maritime security brokerage Bastion International has created an online platform where shipping companies can trade with security firms.

The new platform – named Marsec Manager – functions as a system that provides direct access between private maritime security companies (PMSCs) and clients requiring armed security on transits.

Bastion says that the concept has been developed to enhance and simplify the process of finding suitable providers by enabling a range of information to be viewed and shared on a single dashboard.

Features of the new platform include a fleet manager, as well as a quote manager, which allows users to request security for their transits. A PMSC manager feature, meanwhile, provides particulars on the PMSCs such as their memberships, industry experience, accreditations and more.

Other features of the platform include a Task Manager providing details of asset trading and set schedules. A team manager that enables PMSCs to save their personnel, allowing them to attach them to their return quotation and more.

‘The system has been developed as a way to bring the industries together,’ explains Sean Busuttil Cordina, Managing Partner of Bastion International.

‘The platform allows shipping companies and PMSCs to communicate directly and view a variety of relevant information at a single source. It’s been created to enhance the maritime security industry by adapting new and proven methods to increase the speed, efficiency and security of the way we do business.

‘This is something that the industry has lacked. We’ve had strong feedback.’

Marsec Manager is now entering its BETA testing phase, says Bastion, whereby trialing and testing of the platform will be carried out using views, suggestions and findings of a number of companies from both the shipping and security industries.

With this in mind, Marsec Manager is now open to the industry. Companies are able to apply to be part of the testing phase, in exchange for six months’ free membership through their dedicated website

You will also be able to follow the company through their twitter profile for the latest changes, additions, support and upgrades to the upcoming platform.
