AERIUS Marine Contracts to U.K. Defense Contractor Babcock
AERIUS Marine has been awarded the contract to provide HVAC and chilled water expertise to Babcock International in support of its Marine Systems Support Partnership (MSSP) role.
As the Maritime Systems Support Partner, Babcock will provide a range of complex warship support services to the U.K. Ministry of Defence (MoD) for both the Queen Elizabeth Class
aircraft carriers and Type 45 destroyers. The MSSP program is separated into four distinct lots:
Lot 1 Power and Propulsion
Lot 2 Environmental, Domestic and Habitability
Lot 3 Platform Systems
Lot 4 Mechanical and Constructive
The output requirements across the lots include technical assistance, design support, configuration control, inventory management and providing safety and operational advice
and guidance as a System Technical Authority.
Covering Lot 2, Environmental, Domestic and Habitability, AERIUS Marine has been selected to provide technical leadership on the Chilled Water and HVAC systems across
both classes of warship. This decision reflects AERIUS Marine’s engineering expertise in the design, manufacture and support of these key environmental and habitability systems in the
commercial marine market, which was enriched throughout the design, build and commissioning phases of the QEC aircraft carriers.
AERIUS Marine’s staff are now embedded within Babcock’s organization based in Bristol and Portsmouth and will provide engineering expertise for the technical configuration of the
HVAC and chilled water systems, ensure design intent is managed through life and work with the equipment suppliers to develop and manage system upgrades.
