ACR- Products Saving Lives
The month of October has been designated as “Manufacturing Month” nationally. In an effort to support Manufacturing Month, which promotes products being made in the U.S., ACR Electronic Inc. opened their doors for tours for the press and government representatives. The MarEx team joined the tour at ACR at their Fort Lauderdale offices and warehouse.
At the entrance of the facility, tours are met by security and personal identification is required before entering the complex. ACR has a family atmosphere in its working environment and they were accomodating while we toured the manufacturing facilities.
The ACR team appeared to really enjoy their jobs, but there was a professional attitude throughout the complex as well. ACR is a leading developer of emergency response beacons, and has tasked its products to save the lives of commerical seafarers, military personnel, coast guards, boaters and even campers.
ACR’s products are best described as an insurance policy. You never think about it unless you need it. ACR was founded in the late 1950s by David Rush. And, everything you need to know about its commitment is in its mission statement: We build quality products knowing they are used to save lives.

ACR products, such as the Sea Shelter 3 Cat 1 EPIRB Bracket (right), set the standard in the industry. The EPIRB Bracket automatically deploys when a vessel sinks and the beacon floats free at a depth of about five to 13 feet. The EPIRB can also be manually activated while in its bracket.
“We make products that you don’t want to use,” said Gerry Angeli, President and GM. “But, if an unfortunate event occurs, you’re absolutely glad you have it. Most people and companies don’t think about buying our products until an event hits close to home—such as a family member or someone close to them being involved in an accident or is lost at sea. Our beacons are there to prevent an accident from being a tradegy and we are trying to get the word out about their importance. So, be prepared if and when an event arises.”
